Improving Your Wellbeing With Scalp Massages.

Throughout the ages, people from diverse cultures have cherished the tradition of scalp massage. From Ayurveda in India to Chinese medicine, scalp massage offers more than just relaxation; it's a wonderful ritual that soothes, brings balance, and contributes to our holistic well-being with the healing power and comforting magic of a simple, gentle touch.

Give scalp massage a try! Whether it's in the morning, while winding down after dinner, or during your favorite movie night, dedicating this simple ritual just 5 to 10 minutes can make a real difference, and provide:

Stress Relief: Scalp massage can help alleviate stress and tension by promoting relaxation and reducing the feeling of pressure and anxiety.

Improved Circulation: Massaging the scalp increases blood flow, which can enhance the delivery of essential nutrients to hair follicles, strengthening them and promoting healthier hair growth.

Headache Relief: Scalp massage can provide relief from tension headaches and migraines by relaxing the scalp muscles and reducing tension.

Enhanced Hair Health: Regular scalp massages stimulate the production of natural oils, promoting shinier and more manageable hair. They also help cleanse the hair follicles and eliminate dry flakes.

Mental Clarity: Scalp massage can improve mental clarity and focus by reducing mental fatigue and increasing overall relaxation.

Boost Your Natural Defenses: Scalp massage can increase the level of lymphocytes, which are the cells that help the immune system fight off harmful substances in the body.

How to give yourself a fingertip scalp massage:

Using the fingertips of both hands, apply light to medium pressure to your scalp, moving in small circles. Make sure that you cover your entire scalp. Try to do this fingertip massage for at least 5 minutes at a time, once or twice a day.

While you can perform your massage “dry” (without the addition of oils), I recommend using, at least once a week, a scalp oil like our 100% natural Elixir Hair Serum. It is loaded with cleansing, nourishing, and stimulating botanical ingredients for a healthier scalp, and shinier, thicker hair. It also adds the benefits of aromatherapy, helping you let go of the stress of the day.

Using a massage comb:

Using a scalp massage tool/comb can be very helpful, especially if you have long nails. You never want to use your nails to massage your scalp!

I am not a big fan of plastic massagers with pointed tips. I tried some, but they ended up tangling my hair. I prefer a wood or resin comb with rounded ends.

Run the comb over the entire scalp starting from the hairline around the face and ending at the hairline on the back of the head. Do each stroke slowly 10 to 20 times.

Focus on the area around the ears and run the comb on your scalp following the curve of the ear, from front to back, 10 to 20 times.

I also love to finish my fingertip scalp massage with a massage comb. I use it to release tension on the back of my neck, at the base of the skull, and also on the trapezius muscle, which for me is almost always tense (using the tool works much better than using my bare hands only).

As you end your scalp massage, remember that the power to unlock your inner well-being is always within arm's reach, or more precisely, within your fingertips!
